ABSTRACT
The yoga system and the yoga traditions are mentioned in one way or
another in all four of the Vedic Samhitas. Yoga is mentioned both
directly and indirectly in the first three Samhitas. However, the
Atharavaveda provides a comprehensive understanding of yoga by
explaining the nine gates of the human body, the eight mystical circles
(Chakras), the golden sheath, and the mystic wheel with a thousand
spokes. The Vedic seers and sages were therefore likely aware of the
nature, significance, and implications of the practical components of
yoga. Nowadays, asanas, or physical postures, are how yoga is
understood. However, asanas were interpreted as physical positions in
which one might relax while engaging in more advanced yoga
techniques like pranayama, dharana, and dhyana. Asanas are described by Patanjali as
"sthirasukhamasanam." It alludes to any comfortable and solid (sthira) contemplative posture
(sukham). Its major goal is to reduce stress. A steady, comfortable stance creates mental
equilibrium and eliminates mental turbulence. The Sanskrit verb "Aas," which denotes being
and states of existence, is where the word "asana" originates. Here, the position of the body
and mind in the asana is anticipated. The Hatha Yoga Pradipika gives asana a similar
description, stating that it "may be used to attain sound health, steadiness, and lightness of
body and mind." A well-known and important method used in yogic practises is the Surya Namaskar. Its adaptability and practicality make it one of the best ways to promote a healthy, active life while also getting ready for spiritual awakening and the ensuing expansion of awareness. Yoga has been increasingly popular as a technique for people to better understand and improve their inner selves in recent years, moving away from simple ritual. Surya Namaskar is an essential component of the yogic approach and is simple to incorporate into daily life because it just takes 5 to 15 minutes of practise per day to see remarkably quick and positive outcomes. So, it is the need of study to document the impact of Surya Namaskar on human body flexibility, joint strengthening, and balance, and not observed from an anatomical perspective. AIM & OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of the Surya Namaskar and its effect on the body‟s flexibility, joint strengthening, and balance.
Keywords: Yoga, Surya Namaskar, Asana, Posture, Physical Health, Mental Health, Joints flexibility etc.
