ABSTRACT
Dendrimers are synthetics three dimensional hyper branched nanostructured macromolecules had potential ability abilities in entrapping and/or conjugating the high molecular weight hydrophilic/hydrophobic entities by host-guest interactions and covalent bonding (prodrug approach) respectively. Dendrimer are nanosized, symmetrical molecules in which a small atom is surrounded by the symmetric branch is called Dendrons. They grow outwards from the core shell which further react with monomers having one reactive or two dormant molecules. Dendrimers are synthesized by divergent method, Convergent method, double exponential and mixed growth method and branched monomers growth method. The main method of purification is used in this type of synthesis are dialysis and precipitation of dendrimers. Dendrimers are characterized by
spectroscopic methods. This enhanced activity is due to synergistic effect achieved by dendrites. Dendrimers are used to achieve some specific goals such as to modify and enhance the bioavailability of a drug by altering the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic property. The targeted drug delivery is fundamental for more efficient cancer treatment than dendrimers can transport large amount of drug into specific area.
Keywords: Dendrimer, divergent method, Convergent method, Nanoparticle.
