COMPUTER AIDED DRUG DESIGN: INNOVATIVE AVENUE OF DRUG DESIGN AND DRUG DISCOVERY

ABSTRACT

Discovery and development of new drug is complex, time consuming and big budget process. Computer aided drug design (CADD) furnishes drug discovery process with different tools and methods that aid in different phases of drug design. CADD has accelerated process of drug discovery and development process by minimizing time, cost and labour. Herein, in this review article, we have briefly discussed objectives, advantages and various approaches of drug design such as Structure based drug design (SBDD) and ligand-based drug design (LBDD). Along with this we have also enlisted tools, databases and software’s used in CADD. we have also highlighted recent advances in applications of computer aided drug design. This review will helpful to life sciences and clinical researchers for gaining insights of CADD and for selecting appropriate tools, software’s according to their need.
