ABSTRACT

Theres an evergreen tree in the combretaceae family also called Terminalia arjuna.T. arjuna is a mostly used herbal plant then initial times. The earliest indian practitioners utilized the powdered tree bark of arjuna for the treatment of various diseases. The plant is used in conventional medical practises like Ayurveda, Siddha, and Unani. The three humours of Kapha, Pitta, and Vata have been stabilised by the use of Terminalia arjuna. Glycosides, major amounts of flavonoids, tannins, and minerals are existing in the stem bark of T. arjuna. The most abundant bioresources for traditional systems of medicine, food supplements, nutraceuticals, pharmaceutical companies, and chemical components for manufactured pharmaceuticals are medicinal plants. Antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal, insecticidal, antihelminthic, immunomodulatory, antidiabetic, radioprotective, antimutagenic, and lipid-reduction properties of T. arjuna have been registered. T. arjuna's stem bark is thin, simple, and appears pinkish-gray from the outside. The bark is silky also reddish-colored on the inside. The tree is well known due to its connection to astrology and Hindu mythology. Bark is also precious for its 34% pure calcium carbonate ash content, which makes it a good origin of calcium when combined with other culinary ingredients. It is the main content in various formulations such as Arjunarishta, Arjuna Ghruta, etc. Arjuna is widely available all over India.
