APPLICATION OF LOOTA VISHA CHIKITSA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF VISARPA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO HERPES ZOSTER- A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
The skin is the body’s largest organ and serves as the first line of defence by providing resistance and acts as a barrier between the interior and exterior environment. It reflects the health of the individual. It is supplied with blood vessels, nerves, has rich hair follicles and sweat glands. Any alterations to these elements results in the development of skin disorders. Any abnormality in it, has a negative effect on the person’s quality of life. It affects various domains of life including social, psychological and financial conditions. Herpes zoster is a viral skin infection that occurs when the varicella zoster virus invades the human body due to weakened immunity. A 57 years old male patient came with the complaints of group of water filled blisters on right upper back and chest region associated with discomfort, severe pain, erythema since 3 -4 days. The condition resembled with presentation of Visarpa. Loota Visha line of treatment was adopted in this case and significant relief was seen.
