ABSTRACT
A quinoxaline, also called a benzopyrazine, in organic chemistry is a heterocyclic compound containing a ring complex made up of a benzene ring and pyrazine ring. It is isomeric with other naphthyridines including quinazoline, phthalazine and cinnoline. Quinoxaline is a low melting solid, melting point 29-30c and is miscible with water. It is weakly basic pKa 0.56. quinoxaline forms salts withacids, Nitration occurs only under forcing conditions {Conc.HNO3,Oleum,90c} to give 5- nitroquinoxaline {1.5%} and 5,7- dinitro-quinoxaline{24%}.
Keywords: Quinoxaline and Anti-oxidant activity.
