UNLOCKING THE POWER OF GENETICS IN DRUG THERAPY: AN INTRODUCTION TO PHARMACOGENOMICS
Abhay Kumar Yadav*
ABSTRACT
Pharmacogenomics is a rapidly evolving field that combines the study of genetics and genomics with pharmacology to develop personalized medicine. It aims to identify genetic variations that affect the way drugs are metabolized and how they interact with their targets. The application of pharmacogenomics has the potential to improve drug efficacy and safety, minimize adverse drug reactions, and optimize drug selection and dosing for individual patients. The primary objective of this review article is to provide an overview of pharmacogenomics, its importance, the challenges in implementing personalized medicine.
Keywords: Pharmacogenomics, Gene, Personalized Medicine, Polymorphism, Genetic Variation, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics.
