R. Sumalatha*, M. Sivakumar and G. Parthasarathy
ABSTRACT
Green synthesis requires the accumulation of reliable, sustainable and environmentally friendly synthesis procedures to avoid unwanted or harmful by-products. ZnO nanoparticles are becoming one of the most popular metal oxide nanoparticles for biological applications because of its excellent biocompatibility, economy and low toxicity. The most important application of ZnO nanoparticles is as an antibacterial agent. In this review, the green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles and their antibacterial activity are outlined. The mechanism of this activity was also reviewed. The green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles from Euphorbia hirta, kalanchoe pinnata, Eclipta prostrata,Senna alata are
emphasized.
Keywords: Green synthesis, Zinc Oxide, Nano particles, Antimicrobial activity.
