ABSTRACT
Dioscorea bulbifera is one of the most beneficial plant which having rich source of phytochemicals with lots of therapeutic potential. It is extensively used in both Indian and Chinese traditional System, belonging to family Dioscoreaceae and it has medicinal value in local region of world. It possess basic nutritional component mainly tubers and bulbis has low fat, starch, minerals and providing primary food of trible and non-trible populations throughout the world. It originate from Asia and Africa, it found most of warmer places in India. The main goal of presented review is summarize comprehensive
information was present, it carries out with species of bulbifera including the huge medicinal uses, marphological character, ethnopharmacology, biological activity, phytochemitry of plant Dioscorea bulbifera with conservation purpose. It possess the flavonoids, cardiac-glycoside, saponins, terpenoids, steroids. In traditional medicine system the D. Bulbifera species for presenting various treatment to physiological condition like diabetes, spasm, wound, sores, cancer, piles, cough, asthma, syphilis. Bioactive components from D. Bulbifera have exhibited medicinal effect like antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory antimicrobial, antileprosy activity, antihyperlipidermic etc. Previous studies have demonstrated that D.Bulbifera is also effective against haematological disorder like scrofula, Syphilis, haemorrhoids, diarrhea, dysentry, worm infestation and possess purgative, deflatulent, anthelmintic properties.It also provide raw material to contraceptive and sexual remedy. It is conventional healer hence D. Bulbifera have been well respecteted by herbalist community. Micropropagation of D.
