DIABETES MELLITUS TREATMENT BY USING HERBAL PLANTS

ABSTRACT

Diabetes mellitus is becoming a common metabolic disorder that has a serious threat to Public health in the world. It is a non-infectious endocrine disorder that is characterized by a disturbance in metabolism and is associated with hypoglycemia.[1] There are chemicals and biochemical agents that help in controlling diabetes but there is no permanent remedy available that helps to recover completely from this disorder. By conducting a large number of research works, many traditional medicines have been found for diabetes. Herbal formulations are preferred due to lesser side effects and cost. The World Health Organisation has listed 21,000 plants that are used for medicinal purposes around the world list of medicinal plants With proven antidiabetic and related beneficial effects and herbal drug use in the treatment of diabetes is compiled. Substances and extracts from different natural resources especially plants have always been a rich arsenal for controlling and treating diabetes problems and complications arising due to it. This review helps the reader importance of herbal plants for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and formulations.
