CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF BAADHIRYA WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO NOISE INDUCED HEARING LOSS

ABSTRACT

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is caused by damage to the structures of the inner ear. NIHL limit ability to hear high frequency sounds, understand speech and seriously impairs ability to communicate. Worldwide, 16% of the disabling hearing loss in adults is attributed to NIHL, ranging from 7 to 21% in various subregions. High frequency sound damage to the microscopic hair cells found inside the cochlea. In ayurveda Classics, two Terminologies have much resemblance in correlating this condition. In initial stage where Kevala Vata Prakopa is there due to Nidana Sevana and in advance stage because of continuous taking of Nidana Dravyas there will be Vataja Kaphaja Baadhirya.
