EVALUATION OF THE EFFECT OF JALOKAVACHARANA AND NIMBADI PATRA LEPA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DUSHTAVRANA

ABSTRACT
Dustavrana (complicated ulcer) are a frequently encountered problem in present era produced commonly as a complication of trauma or pathological insult. It causes long term agony to the patient. the issue of chronic ulcer management with Ayurvedic panacea is one of the major areas of research and has come under increased scrutiny, Vrunachikitsa (wound/ulcer treatment) is integral part of shalya tantra (Surgery in Ayurveda). A vivid and an elobrate description of Vruna chikitsa is mentioned in Susrutha Samhitha. to combat this disease and its various stages as many as sixty procedures have been described. it is interesting to concentrate that the management of deformities after Vruna Ropana (wound healing) is also being dealt with equal importance. For the management of dushta vrana, Acharya sushruta incorporated number of drugs broadly classified into vrana shodhana and vrana ropana both the processes i.e, shodhana and ropana have been therapeutically grouped under seven headings kashaya, varti, kalka, sarpi, taila, rasakriya and avachoorna. The application of Vrunashodhaka alone in the present study proves to be exerting good effects of wound healing due to its shodhana and ropana properties mentioned in Susruta Samhitha, Cikitsasthan and Vaidyachinthamani by easy to prepare and apply methods to become handy and effective remedy to the patients suffering from Dushtavrana trial drug Jalaukavacharana was done in Venous ulcers leading them for complete healing avoiding the most unwanted procedures. In the present clinical trial Jalaukavacharana and Vrunashodhaka is undertaken to assess the efficacy on Dushta vrana.[1-2]
