ABSTRACT

A lot of polymers are employed in medication delivery because of their surface and bulk characteristics. The goal of this study was to look into, gather and concisely present both contemporary and older literatures, with a particular focus on strategies that are now being used to extend the effectiveness of various drug delivery systems that have seen recent progress. Due to its durability and capacity for self-transformation as an excipient in tablet and capsule formulations, polymer plays a crucial role in the administration of new drugs. Polymer is now used in drug-targeting and different drug-release systems. The process or method of providing a pharmaceutical substance to have a therapeutic effect in people or animals is known as drug delivery. The importance of nasal and pulmonary medication delivery channels is rising for the treatment of human diseases. Biodegradable and non-biodegradable polymers are categorised in this way. The polyester family of synthetic biodegradable polymers, such as Poly Lactic Acid (PLA), Poly Glycolic Acid (PGA), and its copolymers, such as PGLA, are the most commonly utilized. The fundamental drawback of commonly used biodegradable polymers like polydioxanones and -hydroxy acids is that they are too stiff and unyielding, which prevents them from undergoing reversible deformation. In several laboratories in India, the development of drug delivery systems for pharmaceuticals is being undertaken with enthusiasm. In this studied of in-vitro for their pattern of release and occasionally in vivo in animals for their pharmacokinetics, although effectiveness is less frequently studied. This article provides a concise review on basics of pharmaceutical biodegradable polymers, their used in different novel drug delivery system, covering their classification, mechanism of polymer-drug interaction (mechanism), polymer in various drug delivery methods, selection of polymer with respect of particular solvent degradation and selection criteria as per software using for a particular delivery for specific drug delivery system.

Keywords: Polymer, Biodegradable Polymer, Novel Drug delivery System, Recent Advancement in Polymer.
