BRAIN AGEING AND MEDHA HRAAS- A CORRELATIONAL REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Since time people are more concerned about developing and preserving youthfulness by stopping or delaying the ageing process. According to the WHO report by 2030, 1 in 6 people in the world will be aged 60 years or over. The Ageing is described as „Jara’ in Ayurveda. „Jara’ can be said as becoming old by the act of wearing out. The most important drawback of Ageing or „Jara’ is that as a person ages, degenerative changes occur in the body that causes several parts and components of body to deteriorate with time. Brain is also that one component of the body in which degenerative changes affects all the cognitive functions of a person that can be related as Medha Hraas in Ayurveda. As in the present era of competition in every field of life a person wants to retain the intelligence for long term. So, in this time of increasing ageing process researchers are more bowed down towards understanding the ageing process and the components of body that starts to change with the ageing and try to delaying the same. This review is focused only on one component that is brain ageing and can be related as Medha hraas.
