ABSTRACT
The proposed work was investigated for preparation and evaluation of transdermal patches of H2 receptor antagonist Ranitidine HCL. The hydrophilic polymer HPMC E15 was selected as polymer and 30 %w/w propyleneglycol was used as plasticizer as well as penetration enchancer for fabrication of patches. Totally four formulations were prepared by varying the percentage of polymer. The prepared formulations were evaluated for their physical integral parameters like surface pH, thickness, weight, percentage moisture loss, percentage moisture absorption, water vapor transmission rate, swelling percentage, folding endurance, drug content and invitro drug release studies. According to the mathematical approach the drug release followed zero order release kinetics from the polymer.
Keywords: Ranitidine HCl, Transdermal patches, Propylene glycol, Plasticizer, penetration enhancer.
