EFFECTS OF BADUANJIN QIGONG EXERCISE ON BALANCE AND LEG STRENGTH AMONG POST STROKE PATIENTS

ABSTRACT
Backround: Stroke is defined as rapidly developed clinical sign of focal disturbance of cerebral function of presumed vascular origin and of more than 24 hours. Baduanjin exercise was beneficial to improve the physical and psychological outcomes in stroke, such as improving blood lipid metabolism and sleep quality, lowering blood pressure, reducing depression and anxiety, and improving physical flexibility, strength as well as balance in stroke patients. Aim and Objective: Aim of study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Baduanjin Qigong Exercise on Balance and Leg Strength in patient with post stroke. Methodology: 30 participants were recruited for the study and divided into two groups control group which consists of 15 samples (group A) & experimental group consists of 15 sampleS (group B). Group A was treated with conventional physiotherapy exercises and group B treated with Baduanjin exercises. Outcome measure: Berg balance scale (BBS) and 5 times sit to stand test. Result: Pre and post intervention assessment of both the groups will be done by using Mini balance evaluation system test and 5 times sit to stand. Conclusion: This study concluded that Baduanjin exercise was effective in improving balance and leg strength among people with post stroke.
