ABSTRACT
Famotidine, owing to its competitive inhibitory action on H2 histamine receptors, is used in the treatment of Gastro-Easopharyngeal Reflux Disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and ulcers. A various number of methods are available to quantify the famotidine from either formulations or from biological fluids. Bioanalytical method development demands analyte enrichment stage and hence it is more challenging compared to analytical techniques. This review article summarised the various analytical methods and bioanalytical methods for the quantitative determination of famotidine by Ultraviolet spectroscopy, High-performance liquid chromatography and Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy.
Keywords: Famotidine, Analytical methods, UV methods, HPLC, LC-MS/MS.
