ABSTRACT
Telmisartan – An orally active Angiotensin-II-Receptor Antagonist used in the case of Hypertension, Diabetic Nephropathy, and Congestive Heart Failure for treatment. It functions by binding Angiotensin-II-Type-1 (AT-1) Receptors resulting in the Inhibition of Angiotensin-II action on smooth muscles (Vascular) which leads to reduced Arterial Blood Pressure. Recent studies imply that Telmisartan may have PPAR-ɣ Agonistic properties that benefit metabolic effects. Various methods for the determination of Telmisartan in Pharmaceutical Formulations and Biological samples were developed and validated. Also, more Papers were published regarding the Analytical and Bio-Analytical method-based estimation of Telmisartan in Both Pharmaceutical Formulations as well as biological samples. This entire article represents the different approaches and methods
used for the estimation of Telmisartan in Various Instruments like HPLC, LC-MS/MS, UV, UPLC, and HPTLC. Hence the papers published from 2012 to till date were collected and reviewed for analysis of Telmisartan in Pharmaceutical Formulations and Biological Samples.
Keywords: Telmisartan, Biological Samples, Pharmaceutical Formulations, HPLC, LC-MS/MS, UPLC-MS, UV.
