NOVEL HERBAL EXCIPIENTS AND THEIR PHARMACEUTICAL APPLICATIONS: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Natural or herbal excipients have more advantages over their synthetic analogues due to these are freely available, less expensive, and non-toxic. The quality of herbal excipients finds out the medicine quality. The plant produced mucilage and gums from natural sources like gum acacia, agar, storax, lard, thaumatin, carrageen, tragacanth, and excipients. They can be modified according to needs and are vehicle of economic purposes for sending pharmaceutically active constituents in designed and mixture of chemical substances to be used called as formulation. So current study focuses on herbal excipients which can
be used as binders, diluents, lubricants and disintegrants in several types of formulations, they are more biocompatible. The present review gives a general outlook of the herbal excipient which is used in delivery systems of novel drug and traditional dosage forms.
