SYNTHESIS OF 8, 9 DI HYDRO 7H BENZO [2,3-H] 6[(2-ALKYL-2H-TETRAZOL-METHOXY] COUMARIN DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT

A mixture of 8,9 di hydro [7h] benzo 2-(4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-6-yloxy)acetonitrile (1a-b), sodium azide and NH4C1 in DMF was heated for 8 hrs at 120°C gave as (3a-b) as light cream solid. The compound (3a-b) and Alkyl bromide (4a-f) were dissolved in dry acetone and refluxed over anhydrous potassium carbonate for 3 hrs on water bath to give8,9 di hydro [7h] benzo 6-[(2-alkyl-2H-tetrazol-5-yl) methoxy]-4-methyl-2H-cromen-2-ones (5a-l). The structures of all the newly synthesized molecules were assigned by elemental analysis and spectral data. The synthesized compounds were screened for their Antimicrobial activities strains using Cup plate method.
