ABSTRACT
Plants have been one of the important sources of medicine for human beings and animals since ancient times. At present scenario, there is increased demand for herbal medicines, health products, and pharmaceutical products. Herbal medicines attained popularity at the global level to replace synthetic chemicals as they have shown fever adverse reactions. Glycyrrhiza glabra is a terrestrial herb belonging to the family Fabaceae and primarily cultivated in European, Middle Eastern, and South Asian counries.TO date, 30 species of licorice are known, and among them, G.glabra, G.inflanta, and G.uralensis are significantly explored for nutritional and medicinal benefits. In this following article, we shall elaborately look at the plants phytochemical constituents and the medicinal impacts of those substances. Several
compounds such as glycyrrhizin, glycyrrhizinic acid, glycyrrhizinitic acid, and isoliquiritin have been found this plant, which can provide medicinal benefits such as anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-cancer, immunostimulatory, antidepressants, anticoagulant activity, neuroprotective activity, reproductive and hormonal effects and to treat peptic ulcer disease.
