ABSTRACT
A series of substituted tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate and substituted tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile has been prepared through Biginelli condensation reaction in which 5-chloro-1-phenyl-3-propyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde reacted with Urea analogues and various diketones and Ethyl cyano acetate respectively in the presence of acid catalyst in polar reaction medium. The compounds were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS. These compounds were screened for the antibacterial activity against various bacteria such as B. subtilis, E. coli, P. aeruginosa.
Keywords: Pyrazole carbaldehyde, tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate, tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile, Biginelli reaction, Spectroscopic data and Antimicrobial activity.
