PHARMACEUTICAL STUDY OF TRIPURA BHAIRAVA RAS

ABSTRACT
Bhaishajya Kalpana is a branch of Ayurveda which is also known as Ayurvedic pharmaceutics. The preparation of drugs can be classified into two groups- primary and secondary. Vati Kalpana is an important secondary preparations in Ayurvedic pharmaceutics and can be considered as most suited dosage form in clinical practice owing to many advantages like easy administration, palatability, convenient form for packing and transportation. Tripurabhairava Ras (dwiteeya) is one such formulation mentioned in Rasaprakasha Sudhakara indicated in Vatavikara. Tripurabhairava Ras (dwiteeya) contains Shuddha Vatsanabha, Shuddha Tankana, Sunti and Maricha. The pharmaceutical procedures adopted in this study are Shodhana, Churna nirmana, Bhavana and preparation of vati of Tripurabhairava ras (dwiteeya). Till now, no research work has been carried out to prepare
Tripurabhairava Ras (dwiteeya) according to the method explained in the classics.
