A MISDIAGNOSED AND AN UNUSUAL PRESENTATION OF SCRUB TYPHUS IN AN ADOLESCENT: A CASE REPORT

ABSTRACT
This is cross-sectional study was conducted by taking a young adolescent girl whose serological diagnosis of scrub typhus by indirect immunofluorescence was positive. She was a resident of Vijayawada, Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Krishna district is located at 16010’N latitude and 81008’ E longitude. It is a cross-sectional record-based study after examining the case reports and observation of “eschar” caused by scrub typhus febrile illness caused by the bacterium Orientia tsutsugamushi, which belongs to the family Rickettsiaceae on the body surface of these subjects reporting the points during the post-monsoon period of 2016 to 2019 (September to October). This disease
is grossly under-reported and underdiagnosed owing to the misconception. The subject was admitted by having the associated complications in severe cases of mild anemia 8gm/mL including hypotension 110/80 mg, Thrombocytopenia, Neutrophilic leucocytosis, hepatitis, myocarditis, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), multi-organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), disseminated intravascular clotting with shock and several neurological manifestations and suffered with anemia, hepatic enzymes elevation. Informed written consent was taken from the subject and her parents.
