ABSTRACT
The prime aim of the study is to detect the flavonoids, phenolic acids and xanthones in seven commercial herbal raw materials namely Haldi rhizome- Curcuma domestica rhizome, Rasna root- Alpinia Galanga rhizome, Cardamom seed-Eletaria cardamomum seed, Cotton seed -Gossypium arboreum seed, Indian mallow herb- Abutilon indicum leaf, Diospyros ebenum bark, Diospyros Ferrea bark which is used during COVID 19 lockdown periods as household remedy to treat COVID 19 symptoms by decoction forms which is recommended by their elders traditional knowledge in family and Ancestors practice. The analysis outcomes confirm 0.019% of rutin and 0.290% of quercetin reasonably more in Abutilon indicum among the seven herbal raw materials tested. Mangiferin was supreme in Alpinia Galanga, among five raw
materials. Gallic acid was present only in Abutilon indicum leaf and Diopynos Ebenum bark among screened extracts. The developed HPTLC method can be employed for the routine investigations of flavonoids, phenolic acids and xanthones in herbal raw materials. Results of the investigation revealed that due to diverse proportions of flavonoids, phenolic acids and xanthones in above herbal raw materials minimize the symptoms of COVID 19.
Keywords: Alpinia, Eletaria, Rutin, Quercetin and HPTLC.
