ABSTRACT
The present study involves the formulation and evaluation of oxybutynin rapid disintegrating tablet by direct compression technique using different superdisintegrants of varying concentrations. The comparative study was carried out by using three different superdisintegrants. It was found that, formulation F1 having superdisintegrant, Crospovidone inthe concentration of 4% has shown remarkable rapidly disintegrating properties with less time to disintegrate. The present study on comparison of different formulations of Oxybutynin by direct compression method concludes Crospovidone to be the choice of superdisintegrant among Croscarmellose Sodium
and Sodium starch glycollate. The formulation employing Crospovidone showed good flow (angle of repose is lowest at 29.68°), compressibility (Carrs Index is lowest at 13.79%), strength of tablets (average hardness of 5 tabs to be 2.7 Kgf), shortest disintegration of 12 seconds, good dissolution profile within 30 minutes and Assay result of 99.89% which is highest among 3 different formulationsw.
