ABSTRACT
When spinal anesthesia on a patient, scheduled for transurethral resection of the prostrate failed, it was tried again after 20 minutes, and this time there was sensory and motor block. During this time a detailed history of patient suspected previous scorpion bites. It is known that scorpion venom affects the sodium channel pumping mechanism in nerve fibers, which is implicated in the mechanism of action of local anesthetic medications. This effect may be the cause of the emergence of local anesthetic agent resistance.
Keywords: Failure of local anesthetics, history of scorpion bite, subarachnoid block.
