A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF -MANUFACTURING OF TABLETS

ABSTRACT

Tablet is defined as solid dosage form. It comprises a mixture of active substances and excipients, usually in powder form, pressed or compacted into a solid. For the past two decades, there has been enhanced demand for tablet dosage form. As a result the demand for technologies has been increased 3 folds annually. Tablets are most widely used solid dosage form of medicament because they offer a number of advantages tom patient, prescriber, manufacturer, and manufacturing pharmacist. The purpose of this article is to collect the data regarding tablet manufacturing. A Global Pharmaceutical company engaged in manufacturing of drug in tablet dosage form in order to minimise the cost and increase market competitiveness. tablet remain popular as a dosage form because advantages afforded both to manufacturer and the patient because of their composition, method of manufacturer or intended use tablet present variety of characteristics. The tablets can directly made from powder or film coating or multiple units. Hence, for manufacturing of tablets are done by using different excipients, equipment, machine ie. compression machine have been used. tablets are manufactured by dry granulation, wet granulation and direct compression. Latest concepts and regulations focus on bioavailability, bioequivalence, validation etc. impact on formulation.
