ABSTRACT
Standardisation of drug means confirmation of its identity and determination of its quality and purity and detection of nature of adulterants by various parameters like morphological, microscopical, physical, chemical and biological observations. The Sneha Kalpas are par excellent dosage forms due to their wider advantages like increased absorption and extraction of fat soluble active principles. Sneha Kalpas are the only dosage which can be administered conveniently both internally as well as externally. Prabahnjanavimardanam taila is mentioned in the Tailaprakarana of Sahasrayoga, acts as vatashamana, sothahara, balya and rasayana and is indicated for
ashiti vatarogas. To assess the safety and to understand the physic chemical properties of Prabhanjanavimardanam Taila in Mridu paka organoleptic tests, moisture content, refractive index, specific gravity, pH value, acid value, iodine value, saponification value and rancidity tests are done for developing standards.
