ABSTRACT
The microwave irradiation approach was used to report the synthesis, characterization and biological characteristics of complexes of novel sorbitol (sorb) with transition metals Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II). The structure of the compounds was discovered to be tetrahedral using elemental analysis, magnetic analysis, FT-IR and UV-Visible spectrum analysis. Antimicrobial activities on the ligand and its complexes against Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis bacteria were conducted in vitro. Antifungal activities on the ligand and its complexes against C.albicans was conducted.
Keywords: Sorbitol, Microwave irradiation, Antimicrobial studies.
