A CASE REPORT ON SCAR ENDOMETRIOSIS

ABSTRACT
Background: Endometriosis is a rare post-surgical gynecologic condition that occurs due to the presence of normal endometrial mucosa in previous surgical scars. The overall epidemiology of post-cesarean and post-hysterectomy scar tissue is around 0.03–0.4% and 1.08–2% respectively and it is referred as rare and is difficult to diagnose. It can be located in any of the areas such as skin, subcutaneous tissue, intra-peritoneal, uterine myometrium, abdomen, kidney, bladder, etc. The clinical presentation varies from pain over the surgical area, palpitation, swelling, sometimes bluish-blackish discoloration of skin, intermittent pain associated with menstrual cycle, hyper pigmented area, to asymptomatic. Case presentation: A 30 year old female
patient was admitted in general surgery department. Her complaints during the admission time include pain and tender nodule in the right end of abdominal scar, she was having constipation for 5 days. Medical history of the patient include hypothyroidism and was under treatment with Tab. Levothyroxine Sodium (25 mcg, OD). She had undergone caesarian (LSCS) 6 years back. Condition of patient was managed by procedure of excision of scar endometriosis under surgical anesthetics.
