ABSTRACT
Introduction: Samskara plays an important role in transforming the drug into desired dosage form with better therapeutic value in all the formulations. Yastimadhu ghrita is one such formulation includes Agni samskara process involved the Ghrita murchana using Musta, Haridra, Triphala, Nimbu swarasa etc. drugs followed by the preparation of Yastimadhu ghrita. Materials and Methods: It includes the preparation of Ghrita murchana, Yastimadhu ghrita followed by pysico-chemical analysis of Yastimadhu ghrita. Observations and Results: During the preparation of Yastimadhu ghrita, brownish colour and appreciable odour of drugs has been observed. The analysis of the sample is carried out for further evaluation and documentation includes
Refractive index, Saponification value, Iodine value etc. Discussion: Prepared Yastimadhu ghrita was bright yellow in colour with aromatic odour having sweet- astringent taste of respective drugs used. Analytical parameters tested like refractive index, acid value, etc. indicates the purity of the sample. Conclusion: After the preparation of Yastimadhu ghrita; it was analysed and all the values are normal as per WHO.
