ABSTRACT
Simple, precise and economical UV spectrophotometric method has been developed and validated for estimation of emtricitabine. In this method maximum absorbance was observed at 282nm. Water is used as solvent as it is freely soluble. The developed method was validated as per ICH Q2 R1 for specificity, linearity, accuracy(recovery) and precision. The method is specific as no absorbance was found in diluent at 282nm. Linearity was performed in the concentration range of 20μg/ml. The method was linear with correlation coefficient of 0.999. Accuracy of the method was checked and all the accuracy values at 50%, 100% and 150% were found to be 101.45, 99.25, 98.37 respectively. Method was precise with %RSD of 1.53. The proposed method was found to be simple, specific, precise, accurate, rapid and economical and can be used for routine analysis.
