HERBAL TREATMENT FOR KIDNEY STONE – A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Kidney stone is very common and an increasing disorder of humans. Kidney stone formation results from a succession of physicochemical events like supersaturation, nucleation, growth, aggregation and retention within the kidneys. It affects about 12% of the world population. Kidney stones causes extreme pain and blockage of urine flow. They are usually treated with synthetic drugs that can cause many side-effects. Therapeutic plants are being used to treat kidney stone because of its safety, efficacy and ethnical acceptability. Herbal plants have less side effects when compared with synthetic drugs.
Therefore, the present review explains the potential usefulness of herbal medicines in the management, treatment and prevention of kidney stone.
