ABSTRACT
Activated carbon refers to a wide range of carbonized substances of excessive degree of porosity and high surface area. Activated charcoal has many applications in the surroundings and industry for the removal, retrieval, separation and change of various compounds in liquid and gas phases. Selection of the chemical activator agent is a most important step controlling the overall performance and applicability of activated carbon. Here, we assessment chemical activators used to produce activated carbon. We evaluate the impregnation technique with the physical mixing technique used in
activating with alkali hydroxides. This evaluate provides current use of activated charcoal and latest research that advocate that activated charcoal may also be the single most high quality therapy in many kinds of poisoning. New explanations for the mechanisms of action, approach of preparation, dose and administration, contraindication and uses.
Keywords: Charcoal, Activated carbon, Chemical activation, Physical activation.
