Abstract

FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF TRETINOIN ETHOSOME BY USING DIFFERENT POLYMER FOR ANTICANCER ACTIVITY

ABSTRACT

Ethosomes is an innovative technology that offers drug delivery system to meet the requisition criteria for efficient and safe drug administration through the skin. Ethosomes are soft vesicles which penetrate through the Stratum corneum lipid layer and deliver the active agent to the deep layers of the skin. In this study, total 6 ethosomes of tretinoin was prepared and evaluated for different parameters. Tretinoin is used in the treatmeant of acne or other skin diseases that works by keeping skin pores clear, improves obvious changes in the skin, like deep wrinkles caused by the sun or natural aging process, it is very effective in cancer treatment mainly acute myeloid leukaemia also called as acute promyelocytic leukaemia. Ethosomal vesicles with appropriate size and maximum drug entrapment efficiency can be prepared. F3 formulation showed highest transdermal flux across human skin was composed of 60 mg soya lecithin, 10 ml ethanol. Lecithin is the major component of ethosomal system which plays an important role in formulation. In present study the effect of lecithin concentration on the drug permeation was also evaluated to optimize the formulation for sustained release properties on system. Thus, ethosomes were found to be most promising candidate for transdermal delivery of tretinoin. The results showed the potential of ethosomes of being a safe and very efficient drug carrier for topical delivery of drug.
