PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL STANDARDIZATION OF HAMSA POTTALI PREPARED BY GANDHAKA PAKA METHOD

ABSTRACT
Pottali methods are a unique prepration of Ayurveda, which have a unique method of preperation and have their utility in various conditions. The pottalis are unique in having: Compact size and shape, Easy to preserve, Easy to transport, Require lower dosage for administration, Also used in emergency conditions. There are various methods of pottali prepration, which are without usage of agni, Khallavi method, and along with the usage of agni which are: Puta method, Kaparda/ shankha purana method, Gandhaka purana method. Hamsa pottali Kalpana is a unique rasa preparation and is a sagandha, sagni pottali Kalpana. The main ingredients are parada bhasma, vanga
bhasma, and varatika bhasma which were processed as per the method of preparation of pottali Kalpana mentioned in classical rasashastra literature. As it is claimed to be pottali rasayanas are more potent and used in emergency conditions, and also it has most promising clinical indications. The study has been carried out on this Hamsa pottali rasa prepared by gandhaka paka method for the pharmaceutical study and to ensure the quality control and to see the analytical changes it was subjected to various analytical procedures before and after gandhaka paka to evalute the current pharmaceutico- analytical updating.
