ABSTRACT

The aim was design and characterization of mucoadhesive buccal film. The mucoadhesive buccal film was prepared by solvent casting method by using different types of polymer such as HPMC, Carbopol. Disintegration time. The disinteration of buccal film was calculated found in between 20 to39 sec. and f2, f3, f4disintegrated withh in limit F1 is showned best result. The folding endurance was determined and was found in between 9 to 15. The values of F1 films were of good mecanical strength. The drug content was found to be almost uniform along all formulations and ranged between 98.53 to 95.3. In weight variation test, percent deviation was found to be with in the limit with exception of andhence F1, F2, F3, F4 formulations pass the weight variation tests Thickness of mouth dissolving film from each batch was found between 0.5 to 0.59 and all film passes the test. PH the study it was found that the PH range of all batches lies between 6.14±0.05 to 6.65±0.02 and passes the test. From the study it is found that the film has better films forming capacity and appearance and passes the test. The result revealed that release profile of buccal film of rifampicin shown drug release as 95.63 to 85.67 and passes the test.

Keywords: Mucoadhesive buccal film, rifampicin, HPMC, Carbopol.
