FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL BATH SOAP

ABSTRACT
A herbal soap was formulated using the leaf and bark extract of Azadirachta indica, Mangifera indica, Citrus lemon and Sapindus mukorossi. Ayurvedic cosmetics are also known as the herbal cosmetics. The natural content in the herbs does not have any side effect on the human body most herbal supplement are based on several botanical ingredients available in the market today. Numerous chemical toxins microorganisms present in the atmosphere may cause chemical infection and damage to skin cosmetics alone are not sufficient to take care of skin and body parts. Neem (Azadirachta
indica) tree has attracted worldwide prominance owing to its wide range of medicinal properties, neem leaves and its constituents have been demonstrated to exhibit anti-inflammatory, antihyperglycemic, antiulcer, antimalarial, antifungal, antibacterial, antimutagenic and anticarcinogenic properties. Mango (Mangifera indica) has numerous health and skin benefits like good hydrating properties, antiaging, vitamin A rich, anti-inflammatory, helps to control diabetes, anticancer, treat stomach ulcer, support healthy skin and protect against fat gain. Lemon peel (Citrus limon) vitamin content of lemon peel is 4-5 times rich than citrus juice and that’s why its beneficial for skin for preventing and fighting skin problems like wrinkles, acne, pigmentation and dark spots, it also has some health benefits other than skin that is support heart health, control weight, prevent kidney stones, protect against anemia, reduce cancer risk and improve digestive health. Herbal soap ingredients were used reetha, neem, mango, lemon peel., in which neem leaf were found effective against some dermatophytes. Reetha act as a detergent and having a cleaning and foaming activity.
