A CASE STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF VAMANA FOLLOWED BY SHAMANA CHIKITSA WITH TEKARAJA CHURNA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF TAMAKA SHWASA W.S.R TO BRONCHIAL ASTHMA

ABSTRACT
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in which many cells and cellular elements play a role. Chronic inflammation associated with airway hyper responsiveness that leads to recurrent episodes of wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing particularly at night and in early morning. The episodes are usually associated widespread but variable airflow obstruction within the lungs that often reversible, either spontaneously or with treatment. Prevalence of asthma increased steadily over the later part of the last century. First in developed and then in evolving world. Current estimate suggest that asthma affects 300 million people worldwide, with the predicted additional 100 million people affect by 2025. The
socioeconomic impact is enormous, as poor control leads to days lost from school or work. Unscheduled healthcare visits and hospital admission. In current case, tekaraja churna from sahasrayoga is used and its effect in reducing the signs and symptoms of tamaka shwasa is studied from grading of the subjective criteria and improvement in pulmonary functions is studied by peak flow meter. By looking at the individual herbal constituents and their pharmacological action as mentioned in the ayurvedic lieturature, it appears that this combination should be very effective in combating the disease tamaka shwasa.
