ABSTRACT
Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the chronic deterioration of kidney function over time with high morbidity and mortality rates. Anaemia is one of the common complications in CKD. It is less common in early stages and gets worse towards the end stage. Methodology: A cross sectional, observational study in 100 patients was conducted patient demographics treatment regimen were and entered into the patient profile form quality of life of the patients is assessed using kqol questionnaire and it was then analysed using chi square test and final conclusions were drawn. Results: based on the analysis 26% of the subjects are in the age group of 50-60 years, 24% of the subjects are in the age group of 40-50years. 65% of the population constitutes male. 52% of the population consume smoking and alcohol prevalence is 46%. Our study states that the Haemoglobin
value of 69% of the subjects are less than 10g/dl and 49% of the subjects are treated with EPO and calcium supplements which have shown better results. Conclusion: This study has shown that more than ½ of the population has the haemoglobin levels below 10g which indicates severe anaemia which is treated with EPO, calcium supplements and vitamin supplements for the greater results. This study shows that there is an average 35% increase in the QOL of the patients with the above treatment regimen and the care and counselling provided by the health care professionals.
