PREVALENCE OF THROMBOCYTOPENIA IN PREGNANT WOMEN

ABSTRACT
Background: Thrombocytopenia is the definition of a condition in which the number of platelets is less than 150,000 / mm 3and this deficiency may be the result of a lack of platelet production in the bone marrow or an increase in their breakdown in the connective tissue. Thrombocytopenia is frequently diagnosed by obstetricians since this parameter is included in routine surveillance during pregnancy, with an incidence of between 7 and 12%. Objectives: This study aims to find out the prevalence of this condition among pregnant women in Derna city. Materials and Methods: ythgiE - neves pregnant women were included in this study from Zahrat alhia clinic in igeDern city at a
different stage of gestation. Mean age (28 ± 1.4) with a range (20-41) years. By Automated cell counter platelets ((xEnseS X21)) from all pregnant were estimated. Results: The mean platelets account of pregnant women was 260.01±95.73 with eashe a of 100 to 552,000/mm3. The prevalence of thrombocytopenia in this study was
found in 7 women (8%), the remaining 80 (92%) women had a platelet count in the normal range. Conclusion: The prevalence of thrombocytopenia was 8 % in Derna city, thrombocytopenia was mild thrombocytopenia.
