ABSTRACT
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the association of asymptomatic pyuria before Ureteroscopic lithotripsy (URSL) with post operative febrile UTI. Methods: The study was approved by the Institutional Ethics Committee. Each patient was provided with a written informed consent form and patient acceptance was obtained, typically belonging to age group 18 and above age group. This was a prospective observational study. The total sample size is around 100 patients who fulfill the inclusion criteria were selected for the study and the same 100 sample was divided into 2 groups Group1 [100] pre-op and Group 2 [100] post op under evaluation of epithelial cells, pus cells, nitrates, RBC and serum creatinine. Compare both groups pre
and post to obtain the results. And the sample collection duration about 6 months from Jan to July 2022. Results: The p value for this study regarding pyuria causing UTI by comparing pre-op and post-op profile was 0.05. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the pyuria and non-pyuria groups regarding febrile UTI. We are assessing based on the age, gender, serum creatinine. The rate of occurrence of urinary tract infection high in post operative but not hypothesis for causing pyuria.
