ABSTRACT
Hands which have a wide variety of function like touch, hold, grasping along with this also has an important role in disease transmission .It is said that 80 % of common infection are spread by hands. Hand asepsis is a quintessential quality for a healthy individual. Majority of the times hands of health care professionals show relatively high pathogenic transient and resident bacterial flora and hence are more susceptible for Hand Care related Acute Infections (HCAI).Thus hand asepsis is recognized as important measure for prevention of disease transmission. Which is achieved using spectra of chemicals such as anti-septics, alcohol based hand rubs, surgical scrubs so on. These alcohol/Ethanol based hand sanitizers (EBHS) are having side effects such as skin dryness and itching, accelerated keratinization, peeling of skin and thickening of palmar surface. Hence there is a need of non alcoholic and chemical free hand sanitizer. In classics there are many
Dravyas which are having Krimihara (anti microbial) property. Dhataki is one among them with Vishghna and Krimihara property. In this study and attempt is made for Evaluation of anti-microbial effect before and after treatment with Dhatakiphuspaarka.
Keywords: Reduction factor, microbial load, Dhatakiphuspaarka.
