AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF UDARA ROGA: A CLINICAL CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Udara Roga is one among the Ashtamahagada, occurring mainly due to Agni mandayata. It is Tridoshaja Vyadhi leading to Mala Prakopa and Sanchaya in Udara Pradesh, closely resembles Ascites. Disease is characterised by Kukshi adhmana (enlargement of abdomen), Karapada shopha (oedema in the limbs), Mandagni/ Atyanta Nastagni , Krushagatra(emaciation). Ayurveda treatment explained in this condition is Agni Deepana, Dosha-Dushya Sammurchana Vighatana (by Nitya Virechana) and Pathya. Present case report of 25 yrs old male patient having Ascites showed encouraging result after Nitya
Virechana, Agni deepana and Pathya.
