A COMPLETE AYURVEDA REVIEW ON RAJATA BHASMA (SILVER NANOPARTICLES)

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is a highly evolved and codified system of life and health science based on its own unique concepts and fundamental principles. The supremacy of Ayurveda lies in its holistic approach towards patient care. In this scientific development, a branch of Ayurveda has been completely developed by name Rasa Shastra with advantages like smaller dosage, quick action and safer drug formulations. Rasa Shastra deals with the drugs of mineral origin, their varieties, characteristics, processing techniques, properties and their therapeutic uses which can be easily absorbed and assimilated in the body. Rajata is known since Vedic period. According to ancient texts, Rajata is believed to originated from semen of Chandra (Moon). Rajata bhasma has the properties like VataKaphahara, lekhana and Pramehagna etc. Silver nanoparticles are one among the various metallic nanoparticles that are having excellent biomedical applications.
