A REVIEW ON THE ROLE OF SANDHANIYA MAHAKASHAYA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF RAKTAPITTA

ABSTRACT
Raktapitta is one of the major diseases discussed in Ayurveda and included as one of the Mahagada, which is caused by vitiated Pitta and Rakta. Due to the Ushnatva of Pitta, the Drava bhaga of Mamsadi dhatus oozes out of their respective tissues along with Rakta. The management of Raktapitta includes intervention of Madhura, Tikta, Kashaya rasa, Mrudu and Sheetha guna yukta dravyas. Sandhaniya mahakashaya is one of the Varga in Charaka’s Mahakashaya, which consists of 10 Dravyas which helps to bind the normal inter cellular structures in the body. The Sandhaniya mahakashaya varga dravyas possess all the required guna-karma to treat Raktapitta. Hence
Sandhaniya varga plays an important role in binding the Raktadi dhatu’s with Shareera and thus beneficial in treating Raktapitta.
