ABSTRACT
Water is the most important natural resource which forms an essential nutrient for the survival of life. Due to various kind of impurities pure water doesn’t occur in nature. A person’s health may be affected by the intake of contaminated water. Pure water is necessary for every individual. Aim and Objective- To evaluate the effect of Nirmali seeds powder, charcoal and granules in the purification of Sewage water. Material and Method- Collection and authentication of Nirmali seeds was done. Coarse powder of Nirmali seeds was prepared through grinding process. Nirmali seeds charcoal was prepared in Muffle furnace through ignition process. Granules was prepared from ignited Nirmali seeds charcoal through crushing method. Nirmali seeds powder, charcoal and granules were used for our study. Column study and filtering procedure were carried out in a glass column. Sewage water sample was collected from sewage treatment plant jagjeetpur Haridwar. Filtration process of sewage water sample was carried out on different amount (doses) of Nirmali seeds powder, charcoal and granules at different flow rate (15ml/min, 10ml/min & 5ml/min). Analysis of water was done before and after treatment on different parameters. Metal analysis was done on sewage water sample which was only treated through Nirmali seeds charcoal granules. Results - The effect on turbidity, TDS, TS, TSS, EC, BOD, COD, Hardness, Calcium, Magnesium, E.coli, Aluminium and Fluoride are very encouraging. The effect of Nirmali seeds charcoal granules is better as compared to other forms of Nirmali seeds on the purification of sewage water. Conclusion- This study proves the statement of Acharya Susruta about Jala Shodhana properties of Nirmali.
