AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF ARDITA (BELL’S PALASY): A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Ardita (Bell’s palasy) is a disease causing the vakratha (deviation) /Mukha Ardita (Half of the face). Facial nerve paralysis is the condition which presents with the deviation of half of the face & associated with the impairment of motor & sensory function of the affected side of the face. The present article deals a case of Ardita where a 6-year male visited our kaumarbhritya OPD with the complaints of Deviation of mouth on left side since 8 months. Initially the patient was treated with amapachana chikitsa, Panchkarma therapy followed by Vata shamana chikitsa along with mouth exercise. After 4 weeks of treatment there was improvement of the complaints. This study helps in exploring the effective management of Ardita (Bell’s palasy) by applying vatahara treatment principles.
