ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS: AN ONLINE SURVEY

ABSTRACT
Organ donation is the transplantation of healthy organs and tissues from one person into 0another person, either with the consent or assent of the donor. There are two types of organ donation namely living donation and deceased donation. The Transplantation of Human Organs Act, 1994 emphasizes the procedures and regulations for organ donation and transplantation which are periodically amended by the Indian government.[7] Irrespective of the set regulations for organ transplantation in India significant obstacles like the complexity of the procedure, legal, ethical, social factor led to lesser organ donation. Currently, India is facing a huge shortage of organs and hence death of many patients are reported yearly. The current survey was conducted to evaluate the understanding and awareness of organ donation in layman.
